Melva Smock, Masters Intern
*Millsboro Office
Hello, my name is Melva, and I am a Walden University graduate student and I am currently enrolled in the dual counseling program. I recently completed my internship in elementary school counseling. I look forward to interning with Lighthouse Counseling Christian Ministry under the supervision of Christopher Tabb.
As a Graduate Professional Mental Health Counseling Intern, I will support and advocate for those seeking help and change, promote self-actualization, empower self-growth, improve relationships, and reduce emotional suffering. I acknowledge the importance of being compassionate and interactive, which can oftentimes build the necessary rapport that the counselor and client relationship needs to ensure the individual feels seen, heard, and successful.
My passion for helping individuals navigate their challenges is to provide collaboration. Collaboration is a core value, and I believe in connecting clients with resources that best support them on their unique journeys. I thrive on empowering my clients to achieve their fullest potential and create a lasting positive change in their lives.
Regardless of the struggle, it takes courage to attend therapy and dedication to see it through. I commit to supporting the entire family unit with empathy and effective communication that builds trust and fosters resilience, while incorporating valuable coping strategies. I look forward to providing that platform.
